Have you ever skipped stones on a pond? It's hard to do because stones want to drop right through the surface and sink to the bottom . . . out of sight.

Skipping a stone is more satisfying than just throwing it in. Using just the right flick of the wrist a person can make a flat stone fly across a pond or stream lightly touching the surface of the water several times before finally dropping out of sight. (The 2007 world record holder is Russ Byars with 51 skips!) http://prostoneskipping.com/index_files/page5.htm

I love to skip stones through the Bible. My "stones" are the solid rocks of truth I find there. Sometimes I'll take a "person" stone like Melchizedek and skip him from Genesis to Revelation and see what ripples out. Sometimes I'll use a "place" stone like "Shechem" or "Bethlehem" . . . or a thing like "serpent/snake" or "Tree of Life".

Watching person, place or thing skip through Scripture, watching it dip down to touch here or there, resting lightly in this book or that verse . . . makes it all come to life. You can see how the books of the Bible fit together as a whole. You see patterns. Design. The Master's touch.

The little vignettes you'll find in this section are are my "skipping stones".
