Understanding Your Bible: for Adult Beginners
The Bible is full of fascinating stories . . . stories that can build your faith and teach you about God. On Sunday mornings many ministers, preachers and Sunday School teachers refer these stories in passing . . . assuming that the adults are familiar with the stories and the people in them.
But if you haven’t grown up in the Church, you probably don’t know most of those stories. And even if you remember a few of them from your childhood, you can’t find them in your Bible. And even if you find them you probably don’t know how to fit them all together.
As an adult, you approach information with greater sophistication than you did as a child. You have questions.
“Is this true?” “Can it be proved?” “Who is God?” “What does He want from us?” “Can He be trusted?”
Understanding Your Bible: for Adult Beginners covers the major stories in the Bible in chronological order . . . weaving in scientific and archaeological discoveries that answer your adult questions. Throughout the series we will follow the four steps proven to make your Bible come alive:
- Read the Story Straight from the Bible
- Get the Facts
- Put Yourself in the Story
- Feel the Heart of God
Understanding Your Bible: for Adult Beginners divides the Bible in 12 chronological sections. Each section includes maps, charts and pictures and timelines to help you remember what you’ve learned in class. Like pieces of a puzzle, we’ll see how the Bible stories fit with each other . . . and we’ll place those stories in their context in the history of the world.
